about

This was one of my very few attempts to enter Songfight. Or it would have been if my computer hadn't died that same week. The line "I'm so sick of always having to make sense" comes from my struggles to think of song lyrics; the rest of it grew from that initial idea.

lyrics

9 to 5 I'm in my
basement office and I
wish someone would notice that I
even still exist
My stupid boss, today he
told me that I'm lazy
the next thing that I could see
was his face smashing into my fist

Sometimes I think I might be
losing my mind slowly
but that makes it hurt less for me
this world is just so messed up these days
After work I think I
might go home and pull out my
pump-action 12-gauge then I
might just black out and blow my problems away

I'm so sick of always having to make sense
It's not my fault if you can't stand a little difference
In how we see reality; your world's just too dull to me
But mine is really getting on my nerves

'Cause it's dark all day and I can't sleep at night
Nothing's ever wrong until I try to make it right
And if you see me acting just a little bit crazy then I might be about to blow
'Cause it's dark all day and the moon is too bright
Anytime I smile it just brings me spite
And if I seem warm then it's only because there's a volcano down below

This world is going to hell
it's broken through my shell
so I guess I might just as well
take it out on anyone nearby
I may be coming for you
or I may ignore you
all I know is I abhor you
and the whole damn world you personify

Out on the street I might seem
like a morning sunbeam
until you hear the screams
from the last guy who got in my way
Tomorrow morning maybe
you'll see me on your TV
they'll all say I went crazy
'cause they couldn't understand a word I had to say

I'm so sick of always having to make sense
It's not my fault if you think what I say is some offense
Against your puny little mind, inside of which I fear I'll find
myself, and so I'm taking you with me

chorus, interlude

I'm so sick of always having to make sense
It's not my fault you went and pissed away my innocence
And now you'll pay the final price for your world being not so nice
I tried to understand it but it just pushed me away
